FOUGERE, Willard Joseph" 93, Poulamon, passed away January 28, 2008, at home. Born on February 18, 1914, in Poulamon, he was the son of the late Alvina (Fougere) and Dominique Fougere. Willard was a veteran of the Second World War, serving from 1939 to 1943 on the "Sonia" and "Rosecastle" ships. He finished out the war working for the Royal Canadian Navy out of Point Edward. When he and Naomi returned to Isle Madame, they opened the Willard Fougere General Store, where he came to be known as a kind hearted and generous member of the community. In his retirement Willard volunteered for various community groups and eventually became an honorary lifetime member of the Lennox Passage Yacht Club. His loss will be felt by many as Willard touched all who knew him with his sharp wit and warm smile. He was also the proprietor of a wealth of information about who lived where and who married whom and what their parents' names were. He will be sorely missed. Willard is survived by his loving wife of more than fifty years, Naomi (Bourque), and his sister, Evelyn Poirier of Poulamon. He is also survived by countless extended family members and those who thought of him as family, especially Paul Landry, Halifax, and Lois Landry (Mike Currie), Poulamon. He was predeceased by his brothers, Harry, Anthony, Alex, Phil, Cliff, Joe, Albert, Gus, Wallace and sisters Eva, Annie, Glorinda, Alice, and Florence.
