Sorry to hear of your tragic loss. I recall having my vehicle repaired at Poirier's Garage and fondly remember Claude and his brother Russell. I am a former resident of D'Escousse, long time friend of Glenn Bennett and am the son of the late Louis F. Langlois, former principal of the school in D'Escousse. Paul Langlois and family
To the Poirier family. We are sending our deepest condolences on Claude's passing. Claude was one of a kind, the nicest man anyone could meet, always with a smile and full of joy. Claude was my bus driver and he was also my son Jordan's bus driver. The best bus driver anyone could have. I lived in Martinique all my life and across the road from my place Claude and the boys had a cabin. Many of times I would pop over and have a beer with him. He always told me my cabin is your cabin, your welcome anytime. That was the kind of man Claude was, do anything for anyone. I use to call him the Deputy Mayor of Martinique, because everyone called him the Mayor of D'Escousse. May you rest in peace my friend. You will always be remembered and forever in our hearts.
Our heartfelt condolences to Sandra and family for the loss of Claude. We always remember our stop at the Poirier's Esso and meeting with Claude and Russell during our summer visits when we traveled with our parents Leo and Dean Baccardax. Sincerely, Anne, Paul and Monica Baccardax
To the entire Poirier Family, We cannot imagine the emptiness you are all feeling at this time by the loss of your beloved Claude, he was so full life and gave so much to others. He truly was a loyal and trusted friend to so many. We will all miss his charm, his humor, the smile that made everyone smile back. We will miss the big wave as he navigated the waters of Lennox Passage or when he blazed the trails of Isle Madame. He was the life of every event – he fit in any age group, rather it was a seniors event or teenage event – he connected with everyone – for this his spirit will live on with wonderful and cherished memories. We hope you will find comfort in knowing that he passed with the upmost dignity – he loved everyone and everyone loved him back – not many pass this world with those credentials. He was the greatest to chat with - he knew all our secrets and told none. Besides – what other 78 year old gets a Facebook page in their memory – this is a further testament of what a great guy you/we all lost. Our thoughts are with you all – Keith, Patricia and Family
Loretta and family, Sincere sympathy to lorette on the loss of your dad. Our thoughts are with you all!! Sincerely,Pearle and Wilson
Mike and I were so sad to hear of Claude’s passing. To say he was a fixture in our Community just doesn’t quite describe it. Whether you were out biking and met up with him, or out boating and spotted him, he always had a smile and wave. He once told me not that long ago, that he coveted four things in life, his family, his boat, his bike and his favourite clam digging spot. He laughed and said he would only share three of those things! You knew; that if you called on Claude, he would do whatever he could to help you out. Whether you were sneaking home late, and didn’t want to bring the car home on empty, or found yourself buried in a swamp, he was there to jump out of bed and turn on the pumps, or pull you out. His love for his family and Community was amazing, and the outpouring of condolences and happy stories show that he also touched the lives of people from all over. He truly was one of a kind and we will miss you. Rest in Peace

To the family of Claude Poirier, his many friends and especially to his daughter Lorette who spent many happy moments at our house. She was a great friend of my daughter Yvonne. It is impossible to find appropriate words to convey a message to the family at this time. It was a tragic accident and we will never know why it happened that way. God is the MASTER of our destiny and who are we to question the reason for this? However, for a long time to come, you will ask God WHY. I have known Claude for a long time, he was a one of a kind man. Full of love, kindness, caring, compassionate and had an ability to make people laugh. He was always in a good mood. I met him not too long ago at the shopping center in Port Hawkesbury and He gave me a big hug, asked me how I was doing and told me to continue to write my articles in the Reporter.....The world has lost a great human being, He has made a huge contribution to the people that He has encountered during his journey on this earth. Be very proud of your husband, Dad, Grand-father, sibbling & friend. He was all of that and lived life to the fullest. Now, his sufferings are all over and the Lord has given him the beautiful place that He had promised him in heaven. He will always be close and near to you and from heaven, he will watch over all of you. Lorette, I sure hope that I will get to see you in this time of sorrow. You were always special to me and I often think of the good times that you spent with us. Keep your courage, I will pray for you and your family. God needed another angel and He chose your Dad. R.I.P. Claude, I feel most privileged to have known you and will never forget your demeanor toward other people. You were not judgmental, everybody was special to you and you made them aware of that. God Bless all of you!
