Obituary of Bernard Oscar O'Hearn

Please share a memory of Bernard to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
O'Hearn, Bernard Oscar "Bernie" - 81, Passed away peacefully on December 13, 2014 in St. Martha's Regional Hospital in Antigonish with his loving family by his side. Born in Pondville, he was the son of the late Peter and Marguerite (Forrest) O'Hearn. Bernie loved the outdoors and was at home in the woods snaring rabbits, cutting wood and picking berries. He had a generous heart both with his family and those less fortunate. It was his nature to drop off wood, food and other necessities to a neighbor in need. Bernie was community minded and volunteered his time to St. Mary's Parish in Mabou and canvassing for numerous health-related charities in the Mabou area. While Mabou had a special place in his heart, his deep connection to Pondville, where he was born and raised, never waivered in his 81 years. All who knew Bernie will remember him for his sharp wit, penchant for telling a great story and love of family especially his grandchildren. Bernie traveled many parts of this world during his time in the military, as a teacher and in his retirement alongside Fran, whom he dearly loved. His passion for travel and exploration has been deeply instilled in his children. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Frances "Fran" Helen (LeBrun) O'Hearn; daughters, Shawna Anne, Halifax and Maria Frances, Sydney; sons, Bernard Peter (Allison), Dubai and Luke Stephen (Tracey), Lower Sackville; grandchildren, Owen, Liam, Katie and Quinn; brother, Leroy (Judi), Halifax; sisters, Muriel Forgeron, Main-a-dieu, Audryette Forgeron (William), Howie Centre, Emelda Miller, Grimsby, Ontario. He was predeceased by a daughter in infancy Mary Lee; brother, DP O'Hearn; sister, Ursula O'Hearn. Visitation will be held at the C.H.
