Obituary of Rita Mary Smith

Smith, Rita Mary, 88 of Arichat, which occurred at St Anne Community and Nursing Care Centre in Arichat on April 4, 2015. Born in Samson' Cove, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Alma (Samson) Landry. Rita will be sadly missed by her loving husband of almost 66 years Laurie Joseph Smith, daughters, Gloria Samson (Bob), Petit De Grat, Pauline Smith, Arichat; sons, Michael (Elaine) Halifax, Paul (Anne) Boudreauville and Laurie (Audrey) Calgary; grandchildren, Tracy, John, Scott, Ryan, Aimee, Joel, Craig, Ashley, Gloria, Jennifer, Andrew, Matthew, Amanda, Josh, Jodi, Courtney and Paige; 16 great-grandchildren; brothers, John, Petit De Grat and Vincent (Claire) Boudreauville; sisters, Gloria LeBlanc (Claude), Petit De Grat, Viola Samson and Elean David, both of Arichat. Also she will be missed by her niece, Edna Tierney, Dartmouth. Rita was predeceased by her daughters Theresa Eggerheizen and Alma Smith, son, Walter; grandson, Tanner Smith; brother, Colin; sisters, Edith and Jean. Rita was an awesome mother who was very dedicated to her children and grandchildren. She truly enjoyed her daily drives with her husband and also loved bingo and playing cards. She will be truly missed by all who knew her. The family would like to thank Dr. Laurie McNeil and all the staff at St. Anne Centre for the loving care that she received from them. Your thoughtfulness will always be remembered. Visitation will be held in C.H. Boudreau Funeral Home in Arichat on Monday from 2 - 4 & 6 - 9pm. Funeral Mass will take place in Our Lady of Assumption Church, Arichat on Tuesday at 11:00 am with Father Doug MacDonald officiating. Burial at a later date in the Star of the Sea Cemetery, in Petit De Grat. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer`s Society (NS) or to St Anne Community & Nursing Care Centre.
