Obituary of Leonard Daniel Marchand

MARCHAND, Leonard Daniel - Arichat It is with regrets that we have to announce the passing of Leonard Daniel Marchand - 87, of Arichat that occurred at St. Martha's Regional Hospital in Antigonish on August 12, 2015. Born in Petit De Grat, he was the son of the late Leonard and Bertha (Samson) Marchand. Leonard served in the Canadian Merchant Navy and was a former employee of the Halifax Shipyard and the Halifax Long Shoremen. He is survived by daughters, Elaine Sicard (Daniel), Charlene Boudreau (James) and Donna Marchand; son Stephen Marchand; grandchildren, Guy & Jillian, Shanna, Lana & Shari, Kobe & Kadi, Josh, Emily, Aneijah & Avalynn; great grandchildren, Koston & Kinsley; brother, Alexander (Tye) Marchand ; sisters, Priscilla Samson & Bernadine LeBrun. Leonard had numerous favorite nieces and nephews and many loyal friends. He is also remembered by his companion and care giver Lorraine Richard. He was predeceased by brothers, Stanley & Ernest Marchand; sister, Clarisse Birt. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation by request. Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Assumption Church in Arichat on Wednesday August 19, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Doug MacDonald officiating. Burial will take place in the Star of the Sea Cemetery in Petit De Grat. Memorial donations can be made to St Martha's DVA Unit or to Veteran's Comfort Fund at St. Anne Centre. A reception will be held at Our Lady of Assumption Parish Hall following the committal. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the C.H. Boudreau Funeral Home in Arichat.
