Obituary of Joseph Gerard Boudreau

BOUDREAU, Joseph Gerard, 79, of Arichat, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2017 at the Strait Richmond Hospital, in Evanston with his loving family by his side. Born in Petit de Grat, to the late Raymond and Prudence (Boudreau) Boudreau. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Gerard was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 150 in Arichat. He had a passion for playing his guitar. For many years, Gerard played for dances and variety shows along with his brother, Eddie "the fiddler" and other members of his family. He worked for the Nova Scotia Liquor Commission retiring as a manager after 32 years. He enjoyed working, interacting with people and continued to work part time throughout his retirement. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also loved traveling, playing pool and being on the water. He spent many hours in the boat, with good friends and plenty of good fishing lines. Lots of laughs. Gerard looked forward to the breakfast/lunch meetings with other retired Liquor Commission friends. He lived his life to the fullest. He will be sadly missed by his wife Jean of 57 years, Arichat; son Stan (Sandra), Arichat; daughter Angela (Robert) MacDonald, West Arichat; grandchildren Andrew Boudreau (Chantal), Erica MacDonald (Dave), Jenna MacDonald (Logan); great grandchildren Ethan and Everett MacDonald. Gerard was predeceased by his brothers Clement, Placide, Eddie, Luke and sister Valerie. There will be no visitation by request. A family funeral mass will take place in Our Lady of Assumption Church, Arichat with Rev Doug MacDonald officiating at a later date. Burial in the Our Lady of Assumption Parish Cemetery, Arichat at a later date. Memorial donations can be made to the Strait Richmond Palliative Care Society or to the Strait Richmond Auxiliary. The family would like to give a Special Thank You to Dr. L. MacNeil, Nancy Cameron RN, Dr. P. Cooper and the nursing staff of the Strait Richmond Hospital, whose compassion and excellent skills will never be forgotten. Also to the caring staff and Dr. Saliba of the cancer clinic in Sydney where Dad received all his chemo treatments. Your kindness was so appreciated. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to, C.H.
