To the Burton Family, I would like to send my deepest condolences to you all. I have known Edith for most of my life - since we lived in Arichat many years ago. As a little guy, I remember her as the nice lady whose kids I played with but as an adult, I knew her as a wonderful and long time friend to our family. I always looked forward to catching up a bit during our family Christmas phone call when I visited my parents in Dartmouth. I know she always asked Mom for updates on us when they spoke throughout the years. She was a special and caring person with a great laugh and I will always remember her. May knowing that others from near and far have special memories of her give you some comfort at this time. Thinking of you all. Brian Dole (Rose and Cecil's son) Ottawa, ON
To the Burton Family, We would like to extend our deepest condolences to you all. Since the time that we arrived in Arichat in the late 60's and throughout all the years since we left there, Edith was a true friend to us. She never forgot to call on our birthdays or anniversary and talking to her at Christmas was always special. Of course, there were many other times we spoke on the phone just to catch up with each other. Knowing her for as long as we did and sharing life's stories and events made her a very special person in our lives. May knowing how she touched others give you some comfort at this difficult time. We are very sorry we can't be at the service on Friday. Unfortunately, we have a family memorial service to attend out of the province. We will be thinking of you. Rose and Cecil Dole

I am so sorry to hear of Aunt Edie's passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time.
To All of Edith's Family: We send our sincere condolences to you all. I use to work with Edith at the fish plant many years ago. She & I as well as Jeanie became best friends. We have moved to 40 years ago & lost touch. I was lucky two years ago when Sharon (Ambrose) took me to visit Edith. Wow, it was like we had seen each other every day. We were so happy to see each other. We held hands & reminisced about old times & our lives since. Rest in peace my friend, until we meet again. Linda xoxo
I can remember driving to Arichat getting ready to start grade 2, leaving Dartmouth and wondering what I had done to upset my parents to move us all the way to Isle Madame! We had moved so my mother could take a job at the school board and my dad was going to start a pottery. Mike was still in pre-school and mom needed a baby sitter. Shirley Burton took on that task and not only did get a baby sitter but we became honorary Burtons! Brian was Mike’s age and Garfield my age. I can still remember the countless games of baseball played in the field across the road from the Burtons – seems to me there was a serious slope from home plate to centre field. Edith ran a tight ship but one filled with laughter and activity… kids – her own, and plenty of others were in and out of that house all day long. The Burton family gave so much to my own during a time of trying to fit in to a new home. Edith was devoted to her family and her extended family. She was a strong believer in her community and gave countless hours to her parish. I am not sure if a ball game is ever played in that field any more, but if I close my eyes I can smell the grass, and hear Edith calling the boys home because it was getting too dark to play ball. God bless…
Sending thoughts and love to the entire Burton family.
Our thoughts and prayers to all Edith's family at this difficult time, We dropped in for a visit several weeks ago and she was in such great spirt and so happy. We talked of the BlueJays and how she was pleased to have many of her family members close and of her daily talks to Chuck. We will miss her she was a great friend to us. She is now in peace, God Bless her! Keep all those wonderful memories close, hugs and love. Jessie Askew and Joe Kiceniuk.

Brian and Sara, Russell, Billy, Preston, Garfield, Shirley, Darlene and all the family, I am so sorry to hear of Edith's (Mother Burton) passing. I have only a few memories with your mother, but they are all of a smiling, loving, proud mother and grandmother. Now that she has finally joined your father, I imagine them both looking down over all of you with pride, love and joy. I am sure they will always be watching over you. My heart breaks for each and every one of you, and though I won't be there, especially with you Brian and Sara, my lifelong friends, know that I shed a tear for each one you have. I will be praying for you all and I am sending you all the light and love that I can to help you through this painful time.
May you find comfort in knowing that God will soon do away with death, while we wait on his promise of seeing our love ones back again .John 5:28_29
I'm deeply saddened by this precious woman's passing. To all her family you are in my thoughts and prayers at this horrible time. She was one of a kind as you all know. Now she flies high with the other angels while she waits for you to join her. God Bless
To Garfield and family, Your Mom was one of the sweetest ladies. She always had a big smile and great conversation every time we met. It is not easy when a mother passes but always remember she will love you all from above. My prayers and thoughts are with you during this time of sorrow, take care.
