Born in Sydney, NS, she was the daughter of Catherine Ann “Kay” (Sampson) Boyd and the late Fraser Boyd. Monica will be missed by the many friends and family of those lives she touched with her big heart, infectious personality and colorful vocabulary.  Monica was employed for 31 years, before her retirement in 2015, with the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal.

Monica loved travelling, going for long drives, walks, visiting the beach and spending time with family and friends. She always looked forward to her girl weekends! She was a wonderful daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

Monica is survived by her best friend and husband, Helge Hamnes, Dartmouth (Norway), the light of her life, her son Jonathan Clarke (Deanna Bernard), Dartmouth, step children Patricia Thoms (Chris), Dartmouth; Tom Hamnes (Kristin) Molde, Norway and Lena Hamnes-Langeland (Henning), Oslo, Norway.
