It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of William “Billy” V. Bowen, 92, of Rocky Bay, NS which occurred at the Strait Richmond Hospital on Sunday, December 27, 2020. Born September 1, 1928, in Rocky Bay, he was the son of the late Thomas and Mary (Hearn) Bowen. He was a member of the Rocky Bay Irish Club and was the past president of the hall for decades. He was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 150 and a life time member of the New Horizon Senior’s Club. Billy had many occupations in his working life including cook, lake boat wheelsman, industrial painter, and lobster fisherman. His greatest pastime would, undoubtedly, be playing cards with his family and at card plays around the county. We thank all those who shared a game with him and brought him so much happiness. Billy is survived by his wife, Rose (Kehoe) and his children William G. Bowen, Jr. (Rhonda), Rocky Bay; Donald Bowen, Halifax; Audrey Bowen (Michael Nicholson), Lower Sackville; Arlene Bowen, Arichat; Norman Bowen (Roseanne), Moncton; Theophilus “Timmy” (Lori), Rocky Bay; Wanda Bowen (Wilfred Richard) Rocky Bay; grandchildren: Tressa (Marcel Boudreau), Stacy, Stewart, Kelly, Jonah (Shawna), Neil, Haley (Jordan Graves), Will and Victoria; great grandchildren: Lily and Jake; and many nieces and nephews. Billy is the last surviving member of his immediate family and was predeceased by sisters - Helen Kehoe, Margaret Powell, Clara Myles, Edna Kehoe, Renie Bowen, Theresa Bowen and brothers Harold “Sonny”, Hilary, Alphonse, Amedee, Gerald, and Thomas. The family would like to extend their appreciation for the outstanding care given by Dr. Steven Deroche, and the physicians and the nursing staff of the Strait Richmond Hospital. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation per request. Due to COVID-19 Pandemic, social distancing and regulations a private family funeral service will take place at a later date. Burial will be held in St. Hyacinth’s Cemetery in D’Escousse at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Strait Richmond Hospital Emergency Department Renovations Fund. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to C.H. Boudreau Funeral Home Funeral Home in Arichat.
