Obituary of Gérard Joseph Boudreau

It is with sadness that the family of Gérard Joseph Boudreau announces the passing of their brother at the Victoria General Hospital in the still of the early morning hours of January 12th, 2021 at the age of 56 years. Born in Arichat, he was the much-loved son of the late George Raymond and Zita Mary (Boudreau) Boudreau. He was born with Spina Bifida and faced many challenges and struggles during his lifetime which he always managed to overcome until his cancer diagnosis about a year ago. He fought against this one last battle with hope and courage to the very end. One of the many proud moments in his lifetime was being selected by The March of Dimes as Timmy of the Year to represent all physically challenged people of Nova Scotia. Besides his parents, Gérard was predeceased by his sister, Diane Jeffrey, brother, Joseph in infancy and his nephew, Michael Boudreau. He was also predeceased by paternal grandparents, Harry and Florence Boudreau, maternal grandparents, Jeantie (Félicité) and Irène Boudreau, and numerous aunts and uncles. He is survived by his siblings, Fr George, OP, Miami, Fl, Brenda (Arthur) Pickup, Halifax and Jack (Madeline), Port Hawkesbury. Also survived by brother-in-law, Francis (Anne) Jeffrey, Louisale and uncle, Venard (Mary Elizabeth) Boudreau, Petit de Grat; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Cremation has taken place and as per Gérard's wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Interment will take place in the Star of the Sea Cemetery in Petit De Grat at a later date when family can safely gather. If desired, memorial donations can be forwarded to the IWK Hospital Foundation, Halifax, in his memory, a hospital which was always close to his heart. The family offers our heartfelt gratitude to Dr Ross Mason and the nurses and staff of 5-B VG for their compassionate care of our brother as well as Sandra Jeffrey whose support during the last difficult days was such a blessing.
