MARCHAND, Marie Jacqueline, Port Hawkesbury/Louisdale
It is with broken hearts that we announce the death of our beloved mother, mémé, nanny, and sister, Jacqueline Marchand of Port Hawkesbury, formerly of Louisdale, who passed away at the Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home in Port Hawkesbury on September 7, 2023, at the age of 88 years. Born August 26, 1935, in Petit de Grat, she was the daughter of the late Johnnie, and Marie Elizabeth (Boudreau) Samson
Son (s):
Peter (Josephine) remembers how his mother loved making crafts, and that she was very good at it. She made a lot of beautiful Christmas crafts which we still put out at Christmas time.
Gerard (Jane): My favorite times with Mom were when we took them to Saint-Anne-de-Beaupre, which was something mem and Dad always wanted to do, and all the time they came camping with us.
Daughter (s):
Sandra (Blaine) remembers when I first got married, I had a hard time cooking a meal, and not burning it. I used to call Mom and she would stay on the phone with me for an hour helping me to learn to make it… Blaine appreciated that after a few burnt meals.
Ann (Lloyd) My memory is of mom teaching me how to bake, and how I could never get it right, because she never used a recipe. How was I going to learn?
Denise (Robert) My memories of my mom were when I was sick, and in the hospital, she was always there for me.
Jacqueline will be sadly missed by her sons Gerard (Jane), Port Hawkesbury, and Peter (Josephine), Louisdale; daughters Sandra (Blaine) Landry, Antigonish, Ann (Lloyd) Pettipas, Pondville, and Denise (Robert) Windle, Inverness; sisters, Viola Perry, Port Hawkesbury, and Laura (Cletus) Samson, Vancouver; grandchildren Jason, (Melanie), Lisa, (Waylon), Todd (Holly), Tina (David), Nadine (Jimmy Sullivan), Holly (Jason), Ashley (Kent), Meghan, Brigid (Tristan), Kevin, Gail, (Matt), Christine (Jeremy), and Jeremy (Sarah); great-grandchildren Keira, Isabelle, Sage, Liam, Lilly, Ben, Luke, Ryann, Aaden, Shealynn, Brielle, Jack, Blake, Jaxon, Chad, Allie, Daniel, and Tyler; step-great-grandchildren Matthew, Nathan, Robyn, and Dylan; step-grandchildren Lauren, Marc, Alex, Ty, Leighton.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband Joseph Cornelius Marchand, and son Kevin; brothers Anthony, and Abel; sisters Blandine David, Delta Fraser, and Kathleen Samson.
