So sad to hear about your mother/grandmother's passing. She was a special lady and a proud mother and grandmother. She was the kind of person that anyone would want there Mom to be. She was such a kind lady with a good sense of humour. Though, I only had the pleasure of knowing her for a short time, I was instantly overwhelmed with a feeling of care & concern for her because I knew she was always worrying about her children/grandchildrem which is what a good mother does. Sandra, Darryl, Kaitlin, Catisha & Callum, take pride in the time & effort you spent making your mother/grandmother comfortable and safe. Know that she was so proud of all of you and her love was evident in the way she spoke about you. The world had lost a beautiful person and heaven has gained an angel! She will never be forgoten! Brenda, Sandra and families, We are so sorry to have heard of your mother's passing. Aunt Madona was always such a big part of our family trips to Cape Breton when we were growing up - I never knew another adult like her. I remember as a child the time that Aunt Madona spent at our home in Halifax while she was very ill and always thought her recovery was miraculous and a gift to all who knew her. She lived a wonderful life surrounded by those she loved and who loved her. God Bless!

We can't imagine life up on The Hill, without Aunt Madonna... she was always there to get people going, teasing, and just plain having fun. (It was a comfort to be able to blame Shane's early cursing on someone..... like most of the other children, he made many quarters, amusing her with his shocking language!) We miss those days of our families living and growing up together. There was a real sense of connection in the foundation of our lives together and Aunt Madonna was certainly a big part of that unconditional love. She'll be missed but never forgotten.

This is my favorite picture of Aunt Madonna, and no wonder, on this day, would be her proudest in a very long time. Aunt Madonna will always be remembered by all of us. She was truly a genuin woman, I don't think our houses on "La Butte" would have ever been the same, she was like a second mother to me, I will never forget how good she always treated me, feeding yummy sweets, smashing my asparin in jam just so I could swallow them, she was always there!! Michael even commented on the day she tried to make Christopher swear, giving him money to say a bad word was one of Aunt Madonna's tricks for all kids, I think!! For all you grandchildren, you had the best Meme ever!! For Brenda & Sandra, you couldn't have asked for a better mother. Aunt Madonna has been sad since she lost her boys, then uncle Lawrence, so now she will be at peace with them. For the rest of us, we can all remember the wonderful memories that we have of her.
